How much energy do you have throughout the day? And, how do you use that energy (or don’t) to your advantage?
If you really think about it for a second, energy might be the most important thing. If you want to do something special in your life, you’re gonna have to have some energy to do it.
If you don’t have enough energy to do it or you’re not motivated and you don’t feel that energetic push towards your goals, you’re less likely to start the thing that needs to be done, and also less likely to finish it.
7 Powerful Ways To Boost Your Energy
Fix Your Sleeping Schedule.
Of course, the first thing on this list is sleep.
When we’re talking about energy, the first thing that pops into everyone’s mind is sleep, which is PART of your energy, not ALL your energy.
Most people don’t put a lot of time into thinking about their sleep, or about winding down before bed.
So, here are some things you can do to improve your sleep:
- Invest in a good mattress.
- Are you drinking before bed to “wind down”? Research has shown that consuming alcohol before bed may help you to fall asleep quicker, BUT, you actually get worse sleep. This is due to the fact that alcohol changes your variability, which is holding your body back from the sleep that you actually need to.
- Are you taking melatonin to fall asleep? If you take melatonin every single night in order to fall asleep, your body stops producing it naturally, which will make it harder for you to fall asleep. Use it as a short-term fix only.
- What is your sleep environment? Is your room messy?
- Do you have a night ritual? Anything to wind you down before bed? Or do you fall asleep with the TV on?
- How much darkness is in your room?
Sleep is something that you need to really pay attention to, as it’s a very important factor in your energy.
If you don’t have the energy that you want throughout the day or you find that you are running out of energy quicker, maybe sleep monitoring and actually paying attention to your sleep will pay you dividends.

Don’t eat large amounts of food To Boost Energy.
The next thing is the food you’re eating. Now you’re probably thinking: “I eat food for energy”.
Well, not exactly, hear me out. Digestion is the number one energy-consuming thing that your body does.
So, if you’re eating heavy, thick food throughout the day is going to take energy away from you because your body needs it to actually digest the thing you’re eating.
Maybe you eat something and you notice that half an hour later you’re feeling like you need a nap, or you notice that every day at 2:30 pm you need a nap, maybe you should start thinking about the food that you’re eating for lunch.
Understand your environment.
I went years without even realizing how the food I was eating was literally stealing energy away from me because I always heard that: “Food is fuel” and nothing can be further from the truth in that.
So many people don’t realize that the place they actually live in and the way is set up steals energy from them.
Have you ever wondered if your environment gives you or steals energy from you?
Sometimes when you move from one place to another, you can feel the shift in your energy levels.
For some people, being in nature, seeing trees and blue skies, and being in a less populated area gives them energy.
Whereas others, being in the middle of the city, hearing and seeing the sounds and the movement and the different kinds of energy that other people have, gives them energy.
It’s totally subjective to every individual, whatever works for you.
How can I make my place more energetic?
Declutter your workspace.
What about the room that you work in?
Maybe you work from home right now, a lot of people do, what is your office area look like?
Is it just random stuff thrown around, you’ve got a pile of cups of coffee and bottles of water around, or you’ve created a space that gives you energy when you sit down to work?
Are you looking outside and seeing nature or the buildings? Or you’re sitting on the couch and you have your laptop on your lap?
Neither one is wrong, It’s whatever works for you and gives you the most energy.
I know people that have a messy home but are productivity freaks.
But, for me at least, I can’t be fully productive if the place around me is cluttered. It doesn’t inspire me and it steals energy from me.
The same thing goes for your car. Is your car trashed? Is it dirty? Do you have last week Mc Donald’s in there?
I hope not because eating Mc Donalds definitely steals your energy.
I find that, when I’m driving a cleaner, nicer-looking car, I feel better about myself and I show up with more energy.
If you have a cluttered house, workspace and car, it usually creates a cluttered mind!
Limit The Time Spent On Social Media.
Nobody that I know of, or at least heard of, is saying that social media gives them energy.
Nobody gets on their phone and goes: “I feel so much better about myself now that I’ve spent 45 minutes of my time scrolling through people’s feed on Instagram.”
The thing that I’ve heard of and I know from personal experience is that social media steals energy from us.
So, how much time do you spend on social media?
The average person spends 2-4 hours a day. See how you feel after you get off social media.
You don’t feel that you have the energy to conquer the world, at least for me. I was mentally exhausted from all of the stuff I was reading.

Evaluate Your Morning Routine.
What do you do when you wake up in the morning? Does it give you energy or does it steal energy away from you?
If you wake up 10 minutes before you’re supposed to go for walk, take a shower, throw some clothes on, make a quick cup of coffee and you’re gone, think for a second, does it give you energy or does it pull energy from you?
What if you’d woke up and spent 30-45 minutes on yourself doing things that you love and that will have a great impact on you? Meditating, yoga, reading, stretching, whatever it is that makes you feel more energetic.
I’ve written a couple of articles on my morning routine!
Evaluate the people you hang around with.
This is going to hit home for a lot of people.
Do the people that you hang out with give you energy? Do you feel amazing after you’ve hung out with them? Or do you feel drained?
There are people that when you’re around them, it seems like they give you energy and you feel so good and motivated, and then there are some people that after 20 minutes you feel like you’re needing a freaking nap or something.
They suck the energy out of you.
So, give yourself some space to re-evaluate the people that you hang out with.
Figure out when you have the most energy.
I have an assignment for you.
For the next 7 days, I want you to track how you feel every single hour from the moment you wake up till the moment you go to sleep.
Have an alarm that goes off in your phone and track from 1-10 how you feel the past hour.
At the end of the week, now that you’ve tracked the way you feel every hour, you’re going to figure out certain times of the day when you don’t have much energy.
Maybe you feel tired after you eat lunch.
So, what you have to do is plan your day around how you feel, do the most energy-demanding task when you feel great and have the most energy.
Leave the not-so-important task for later in the day.
I bet that your energy levels are going to skyrocket!
